Kathryn Bux served in the Air Force at the Pentagon during Vietnam. A certified horseback riding instructor, Bux volunteered with 4-H summer camps and organized the first horseback riding club in Laurel County. She worked with HIPPA Therapy Riding and Handicap Riding, a form of physical, occupational and speech therapy using movements of horses to improve patients’ sensory perceptions. She also volunteered at the KY Horse Park for the Handicap Riding Program and with Bluegrass Search and Rescue. She currently volunteers in several lineage societies, at Waveland State Historic Site, and has restored several 19th century buildings.
